ART + DESIGN IDENTITY APPLICATION

This is a project from University of Alberta DES 494.

The client is the Art and Design department, who asked for
a new identity that will be applied through a visual system in the future years of the program. The new identity was applied to posters, banners, name badges, swags, and social media.

Expanding upon the logo and tagline, the movement in the design is further shown in the application by a wave of colourful arrows leading towards a common goal.

The poster / broadsheet folds into a quarter of its original size for easy carrying. The back of the poster has important information regarding the program application and portfolio deadlines. Fine Arts, Design Studies, and HADVC also gets their own identity extracted from the main logo. Contrast in the colours are carefully used to guide the eyes and enhance hierarchy.

Event name badges

The event assets continue to apply the system developed through the broadsheet.
The design prioritizes spread of information so that people passing by can quickly grasp time and location of the event. The name badges also expressed personal expertise and identity through the use of department logo specific to their study route.

Swag Mockup

Water bottles were chosen for the swag. The students could get a water bottle that is colourful and hidden with art and design identity modestly.

The arrow design wraps all the way around the bottle to make a smooth, continuous pattern. The department identity and tagline are displayed in a ring on the bottom.

Social media asset examples

The carousel images can be created in two formats. The photo focused version uses a template that includes the branch logo, title, and credits. The text heavy version uses a yellow headline to grab attention, and arrows on the right to balance it out.
